Our boys are 4 weeks old t and I thought it's about time to record their birth day (really for me, so feel free to skip to the pictures)
I had a c-section scheduled for Thursday March 8th, 38 weeks because Baby A was Breech. 3 weeks before he flipped into place, yeah! No surgery....2 weeks before, breech AND transverse, seriously dude?! Back to plan A.
I had been having full labor contractions for about 5 looong painful weeks but staying at 2cm. After 3 weeks of bed rest I made it to 36 weeks, full term for twins. I was ready to be done being a giant house. At 37 weeks (A week before the scheduled day) the saint Doc called and told me he was on call this weekend so find a reason to come in and he will make it happen. So Saturday we did all our final touches before the storm came. Took B out for a fun day with just the 3 of us and that night had one last hoorah with some friends. Super fun, but I was having BAD contractions all night (probably from the 2.5 miles waddle walk that day).
37 weeks 2 days
After a night of no sleep (how could I?), 5:30 a.m. Sunday rolled around and I decide to walk 3 miles to get some more contractions rolling. I'm sure the 3 people on the road thought it was hilarious. We got ourselves together and said our goodbyes to Berkeley as we left her at home with my parents.
Our last picture as a family of 3
By now I was having serious contractions and was ready to be not be pregnant! We checked in at 8:30 a.m. and was at 4cm and in full labor. Looked like I was having these babies then either way.

We called my parents, told them to hurry to the hospital because I was about to go into the surgery, like now! By 10:15, I was in the OR and ready to have these guys. It all went SO fast!
My parents running in just in time to show support
Off to have some babies
I was a very strange experience, fighting throwing up and passing out and not realizing these babies were even being born.
As my stomach is being sliced open
At 10:50 I heard "he's SO big!" (I'm imagining a 12 lbs baby). At 10:51 I heard "He's SOOO small!" I then looked at him on the table and saw a purple body. I saw the nurses lift his arm and it drop lifelessly, then the same with his leg. Next thing I knew the table was swarmed with doctors and we could no longer see what was happening. I was imagining this "giant" baby had starved this "tiny" baby. We had not clue what was happening.
Waiting for Baby #2 to arrive
Looks of concern as they begin to check out Baby Cruze
Bronson was 1st and a healthy 6 lbs 10 oz. Cruze was 2nd at 5 lbs 14 oz., he was quickly given CPAP to help with his breathing and taken away to nursery. They were kind enough to not put him in the NICU, knowing it would be easier for us to have him discharged later and since there was no babies in the nursery at that time.
I was wheeled away to recover (which totally SUCKED!) with Bronson and still had never seen Cruze. Eventually I was given ice chips but I was so nauseous, in so much pain, and just wanted to meet my son. Much different experience from Berkeley's delivery. All I could do was wait for updates on Cruze and enjoy Bronson in the meantime. After about 6 hours, Tim open the door to my room with a baby in his arms and said to me, "would you like to meet your son?" I will never forget that moment. It was the such an incredible feeling to know he was okay and to have both my boys together and to FINALLY meet Little Man Cruze.
Their 1st picture together
(This picture means so much to me)
My 1st time seeing and holding our boys
Cruze was born with some trouble with his premature lungs, I am so grateful I choose the steroid shots a few weeks before for this exact reason. He also had something with his stomach. When he arrived, his stomach was swollen, looking like a massive balloon (I later saw a picture, it was huge!). They needed to know if that was related to the breathing and what was causing the swelling. It could have been a long list of very severe things. After tests, x-rays, and ultrasounds, they found it was just a bunch of poop backed up, so much that it was interfering with is breathing. They stuck a thermometer in his behind and that was it. He was having breathing issue still from the premature lungs so he was monitored for a while longer before he was released to me. Extremely scary time when all I saw was a purple, limp body, but it turned out to be so minor.
To say we feel blessed is an understatement. We had 2 babies, healthy enough to come home with us. A (hard but) healthy pregnancy with no complications and carried to twin full term, 37 weeks 2 days. They are sweet, happy, and wonderful little brothers and amazing sons.
So glad my dad was able to be here

Off to reality home
Came home to this
Our new family finally home
*Let me just say, I was so full of IV's and medications during my stay that my face swelled like a whale. I got fatter after delivering (not what a girl hope for)! I looked worse after this delivery (no work on my part) than my labor with Berkeley (real labor). What the?!

I love this post! Usually I don't read "birth stories" but this was awesome. You are awesome. So glad those little boys are here. Btw, I totally swelled up too when I had LIzzy because of all the fluids they were giving me. I totally forgot about that. haha.
You are such a champ! And those boys are so adorable. That is so nice that you have a fellow twins mommy to talk and bond with, I'm sure being a mom to twins is only something that another mom with twins can relate to. Congrats to 2 healthy babies!
I was crying reading this. There's just something so special about babies:). They are precious! Enjoy:). (and don't worry, soon B wonn't even remember life without them)
